Moinul black balls 1906 journalists
Blitz Exclusive

The
most controversial advisor to the military backed interim government in
Bangladesh, Barrister Moinul Hussain has created a list of 1906
journalists in Bangladesh terming them as non-working media personnel.
The list comprises a number of prominent journalists in the country
including Weekly Blitz editor Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury.
It
may be mentioned here that, Moinul Hussain presently faces a criminal
charge in a murder case, investigation of which is now continuing with
Criminal Investigation Department [CID] in
Bangladesh. Moinul hired professional killers few years back to kill Kamal,
an employee of Daily Ittefaq. Since he took the office of information
and law advisor, Moinul is continuing to pressure CID in either giving
a final report to the investigation or to divert the case towards
different direction in harassing his business rivals. On condition of
anonymity, a highly placed source in CID told Weekly Blitz that, the
investigators have already found specific involvement of Moinul Hussain
in murder of Kamal. Once the charge sheet is sent, count will
immediately issue warrant of arrest against him. Understanding legal
consequences, Moinul Hussain is trying to kill the issue right in CID
by exerting his official influence.
This
most controversial man has created a list of 1906 journalist, which
comprises names of several leading figures in country’s print and
electronic media. It was revealed that some unscrupulous elements
circling Moinul helped in creating this list in order to black ball
some of the independent journalists in the country. This list has been
sent to Accreditation Committee with Press and Information Department
in
Bangladesh with the instruction of not issuing any accreditation card to these 1906 journalists.
While
commenting on Weekly Blitz editor Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury,
Barrister Moinul Hussain in his comments termed him as a ‘non working
journalist’ as Choudhury does no more work with vernacular daily
newspaper Inqilab. It may be mentioned here that, Salah Uddin Shoaib
Choudhury is the editor and publisher of Weekly Blitz and Chief editor
and publisher of vernacular weekly Jamjamat. Many of the top officials
with Ministry of Information expressed their surprise for showing
Weekly Blitz editor as a non-working journalist by controversial
advisor Moinul Hussain. They said, the advisor did never consult with
the concerned officials of Ministry of Information while preparing the
list. Rather some lap dogs of the information advisor were active in
creating the list in order to malign some of the most esteemed front
ranking journalists in
Bangladesh.
Barrister
Moinul became angry on Weekly Blitz editor when the newspaper published
a number of investigative reports on his irregularities including
issuing a broadcast license to his son Arshad Hussain using his
influence as the information advisor. Arshad Hussain applied for a
broadcast license to start a private television channel named Media
One, when his father became the information advisor. Officials in
information ministry are made compelled by Moinul and his personal
staffs in issuing the license to advisor’s son defying all norms and
regulations. It may be further mentioned that, Barrister Moinul’s
assistant personal secretary Syed Tosharraf Ali is also continuing to
violate official law by continuing to hold the post of APS to the
information advisor as well as the editor of a vernacular weekly
newspaper owned by Barrister Moinul’s wife, Saju Hussain. Information
ministry officials are terming this as a clean corruption by the
members of the interim government, although it is continuing
anti-corruption drive in the country.
It
may also be mentioned here that, Barrister Moinul Hussain is allegedly
trying to save a former state minister, whose name appeared in the
recent list of suspected corrupts as the younger brother of this former
state minister married Moinul’s daughter. Several sources confirmed
that this corrupt former state minister was even recently seen in the
official car of Moinul as well he is a regular visitor at Moinul
Hussain’s residence. The former state minister’s named came in the list
because of personal initiative of some honest government officials. Now
the controversial advisor is trying to do everything in getting the
former state minister’s name some how excluded from the list.
Salah
Uddin Shoaib Choudhury is a known journalist in international arena who
received a number of national and international awards for his
courageous role as a journalist and peace activist.
